#102 Fear(less)

The geese amaze me. They stand right on the edge of the falls - on one leg and snuggle their beak under their wing. Not sure what to make of that. Seems like the speed of the water would make it a bit precarious. They probably know something I don't since they have been doing it longer than I have been around!

  1. cool shot. I wonder what makes them do that too, but as you said - they clearly know something we don't.

  2. Maybe the water tickles their toes.

  3. Terrific capture, but I have seen Ducklings less than a week old do the same thing, must be skinny legs and big flat feet that make it possible.

  4. I wonder if a goose is ever lost to this water fall? This is really a beautiful shot!

  5. Hmmm...Maybe they have suckers on the bottoms of their feet?

  6. Maybe the running water helps keep their feet clean, it does look a bit precarious.

  7. They probably figured out that their predators can't get them when they stand there. Their legs are too skinny for the water to have enough pressure to wash them over? Great shot for the theme. The Sandhill Cranes in Nebraska sleep standing up in the Platter River to keep safe from predators too.
