#155 In The Distance

The drive to Hoover Dam takes thirty minutes - not far. We took advantage of the new learning center and all about building the dam. The recently finished bridge over the Colorado River downstream from the Dam makes driving from Kingman, Arizona to Henderson, Nevada (or vice versa) a lot faster.

Happy tourists. Thanks to our host, Mary, for taking this photo.

  1. Beautifully composed lets the mind wander down the river or wonder what is on the other side of the bridge. You DO look like HAPPY tourists!

  4. Terrific images, but as it is Brand new, you could have used the theme "Spic 'N Span"

  7. I saw a Smithsonian Magazine that documented the building of that bridge. Most impressive! Thanks for showing the new structure. It is a modern marvel.

We almost got married in Boulder City but the Justice of the Peace wasn't working there that day, and we were told we had to go back to the county seat (Vegas) to get our license anyway. We did, and since it turned out to be April Fools Day we thought Las Vegas was the appropriate place, 22 years ago!

  8. Magnificent shot--the bridge frames the canyon perfectly! (I like the photo of you and your husband, It's kind of interesting: you and I, who have the same name just spelled differently, look very much alike; and my husband also has a white beard and glasses.)

  9. The last time we were at this spot, the construction was midway without any idea what it would look like when finished. Now I want to go again! Thanks for sharing.

  12. these are two beautiful pictures. What about the bridge, the image offers quasi a paradox: Sometimes you have to take distance to see the things clear ...
