#308 The Letter G

Grape Vineyards are quite the financial investment. This vine isn't quite ten years old. Before planting, the vineyard owner had to install the trellis in order to train the vine. Then he had to install the drip irrigation system (seen at the bottom of the photo). Both systems have to be maintained. I won't even start on how much labor is involved in planting and maintaining the vines! These vines have been pruned and are ready for the spring growth. (From one of the many vineyards in the Columbia Valley, Washington state.)

  1. they are definitely hard work - I have a friend who has a small vineyard. Lots of nice textures in that shot.

  3. Very interesting. So much goes into the creation of a fine wine.

  4. Grapes are Good to eat and for this theme. You are so very right that they are financial and labor intensive. We had neighbors who had to close their vineyard for both reasons when they got too old to do the work.

  6. interesting story you are telling, drinking a glass of wine, or two, you scarsely think of the input necessary to produce it.
